Day 7: I'm a whale Watcher...

Today we had the last of our three activities. First thing this morning we had breakfast room service, then went out to the pool area for a while. They have these awesome slides and lazy river so that was one of the things we did today. The largest slide was really awesome! I didn't think it was going to be that big of a deal, but it was really fast and fun! We ate lunch by the pool, then headed up to the room and made a quick clothes change to go on the Whale Watch tour. They drove us over to the marina about 20 minutes away on a tour bus, and took us over to the Trilogy II for a sail boat ride. We had a great time! It was probably the most relaxing thing we have done yet, besides the Spa treaments. We saw lots of whales, and at the end some turtles. Here are a few of the pics and one video! After the Whale Watch tour we had 20 minutes to get ready and be in Bryon's boss's room. We had to shower, change, and walk about five minutes to the other side of the hotel. We were a couple minutes late, but we did pretty good! We ate dinner at Tommy Bahamas. I had the SSan Pedro Prawns (shrimp) with risolto and spinach and Bryon had the fresh snapper with green beans. It was a really good meal! For dessert we had Lappert's Ice Cream. We both tried the mini peanut butter cup and fudge in vanilla.

Pics from the Lua

We have so many picture of this, Jenn has them... above is the sarong hut..

Day 6: The perfect day!

Ok we did sooo much today! The most we have done yet! This morning we had room service breakfast, and I went and checked out the fitness center. It is amazing with brass handrails leading up to the entry. Bryon played racketball with Nima, and then we came up to the room and got ready for the Molokini Express Rafting tour. This was awesome! The boat had "pontoon" looking tubes that ran along the side and that is where you sit. You had to hold on at three points (foot, and both hands) to ensure you were not thrown off. Their goal was to throw you off though (and they played the song sweet child of mine really loud)! We were jumping waves, going fast, and having a great time. It was out in the open ocean. They took us to the number one snorkeling spot in the area, and there was no one there but our group! We saw lots of fish, and two sand sharks. The coral was beautiful, but the water was cold out there. We snorkeled for about 30 minutes, then started looking for whales. We saw a few, but I did not get any pictures of them :( We are going on a whale watch today so we will see more. After we got back from that, Bryon and I both had Spa Treaments. They had the different baths you could get in and whirlpools with different temperatures of water. This was so neat! Bryon got a Lava Stone Massage, and I got a Sandalwood wrap. We had a great time! As soon as that was over, we had to come up to the room and get ready for the Lua! We changed clothes, and had to be downstairs by 6:00. We got leis and also the girls were able to pick a sarong to take home. I have some pictures of the sarong hut. It was awesome! There was also a band playing. The food was great and included moon fish, lobster tail, steak, potato salad, baked potato bar, onion rings, rolls, salad, and vegetables. There was a dessert buffet which included pinapple shortbread with warm berries on top, a fudge brownie, and a double crust apple pie. It was good!

Day Five: Business Meeting, Golf, and Cafe O'Lei

Going to Dinner

Business Meeting Attire..

Today we had to be at breakfast and in the meeting by 7:30. The meeting lasted for four hours, but we did have a snakc break in the middle. We got the run down of the company's progress and success from the last year, and heard some insights from the Chaiman, and then man that is going to step into his place.

Bryon received a yellow polo to wear as well as a brown suede jacket that he had to wear to the meeting. When we got back to our room after the hour'derves party, his clothing was in the room. Here we are in our outfits! I wore yellow too...:0)

After the meeting Bryon played golf for like 5 hours, and Jennifer and I went to the pool and walked around to the different shops. They met us back up at the room, and we dressed for dinner. We went to a great seafood place called Cafe O'Lei and I had the best crab legs I have ever eaten. I looove crab legs but usually don't get them because of the price and messiness. Bryon had the shortribs, and really enjoed them too! The meal started off with salad, bread, and a "pizza" type appetizer with beef and mushrooms. We tried the pineapple upside down cake for dessert.

Day four:Grand Wailea

One of the SC Markerters...Clay Wheatly
This is the swim up bar cave...under the waterfall is like a club complete with music, and "heated water" There really are heated water jets coming from the bottom, but some of those people stay in there for a long time.....really kinda gross!

This is at the first night party...

The view from the main lobby out across the Hotel landscape. There are different areas, this leads to the adult pool area. There is another area with a lazy river, water slides, and a "cave" swim up bar that is out of control!

Hawaii Sunset: We could literally watch it sink into the water. I will try and get a video one of these days!

On this morning we went for a walk/run on the path that runs along the beach. We started seeing people from the Federated group that we know, and so we had to keep stopping a lot :0) We went back and went through the breakfast buffet (this is awesome by the way!) We then went up to the room and began packing our clothing to change hotels. Jennifer picked us up in the yellow Jeep and we went the short drive to the other hotel. We were there before check in, so they put our bags in a holding location. We went out to the pool/beach area and just hung out for the afternoon. Bryon went up and checked us in around 3:30, and put all of the stuff away in the drawers and put the toiletries away. I came up a little later and we got ready for the first night hour' devers party. The menu included a pasta bar, sushi, and a dessert bar. There were about six desserts with my favorite being the tart cake. The flour less chocolate cake came in a close second but was sooo rich. Bryon liked the chocolate mouse and sundae bar. My favorite part of the meal were the tempura fried shrimp and shitake mushrooms. At this point all Federated employees should be here (which there were a few that missed flights) but we talked, ate and drank for a few hours :0) We went back up to the room around 10:30 and went to bed.

Day Three: The Zip Line!

On day three we had a reservation to go to the Piiholo Ranch Zipline at 10:00 a.m. We were there to check in, weigh in, and suit up at 9:30. We zipped five different lines that covered over a valley with water pools under as well. It was a cattle farm owned by the Baldwins for many years. They had owned much more land and a half of the sugar cane production factory at one point, but had ended up selling it. The sugar cane factory looks very old, but is still functional..OK sorry, so back to the zip line. We had a great time! Here is the website to check out if you want to see what it looks like going over the lines.

Nima and Jennifer have the pictures of Bryon and I actually on the line. I have to get those from them later, but here are some of the ones I took.

After the Zip Lines, went to the town of Paia and ate lunch and walked around the stores. Many of the things they sell here at imported, which makes sense because all they have are sugar cane fields aournd. They also grow pineapples as their staple crop. It takes 18 months for a pineapple to mature. That is a long time! We ate at a place called Milagros and I ate the Pesta Magic sandwich (turkey, pesto, swiss, tomato, sunflower sprouts) and Bryon had the house burrito. It was very good, a lot of food, but not expensive. They had extended their happy hour from 11:00-9:00 because of the economic conditons. Lucky for us! :0) We drank 3 dollar margaritas!

Then we drove back to the area of Wailea and hung out with some people who were filtering in for the Federated portion of the trip. We ate dinner at a Cheesburger place (the only resaurant open after 9:00. In bed by 11:00.

Mixed pics from the first two days..

These are some of my favorites!

Second Day in Hawaii

OK so today we went for a loooooooooooooonnnnnnnnggg drive! We started around 9:00 to drive around the island. We went to some of the most popular beaches (which I do not have the particular name right now but will get) and took lots of pictures. It was rainy and messy yesterday, but we got in and out of the car about 100 times. I really wish we had gotten a four door Jeep, but Nima and Jennifer ended up getting a two door. We went on some VERY NARROW roads, and I am really glad the brakes work because in some places it was only one land roads. One car would have to pull over to the side and let the other pass. We ate around 4:00 at a place called Da Kitchen and had some really authentic Hawaiian foods. I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich and Bryon had the Hawaiin platter. It included their version of "bar-b-que" called Lau Lau pork, soup, rice, macaroni salad, and one other meat I can't think of now. It was really good :0) It was A LOT of food. After that meal we made the drive to Hana. We bought this CD that narrated the journey (Craig Henson) and took off. It was a trip that people are supposed to start in the morning, but we attempted at 4:00 in the afternoon.Nima had been driving all day, and Jennifer noticed that we were running low on gas. He said "We will be fine!" and we were on on our way. BIG MISTAKE! We drove for approximately 2:45minutes with waterfalls, beautiful greenery, and one lane curvy roads. The CD narrator said that it had 600 curves and 54 bridges along the way. When we pulled into Hana at approximately 6:45 we finally decided to get some gas. Oh, but wait! The only gas station in town closed at 6:00! OK so what now! We went to the general store and asked what we should do. They gave us the suggestion to go over to the Fire Station and buy some gas. We drove around and found the station, bought 5 gallons of gas for 25 dollars (which was actually only a 5 dollar mark-up for the gas in the area) and were on our merry way back were to to the area of Wailea. Really, the way I just wrote that does not show the urgency we were feeling at the time. We were really getting upset and hoping we did not have to stay there for the night. We were releaved to be headed home. We kept trying to scare each other with scary stories like "How much would it cost you to run into these woods for five minutes by yourself with the lights off?" Or "What if someone jumped on the hood of the Jeep right now and would not get off?" We were getting ourselves worked up. We were really in the middle of nowhere and, with no one around. We started playing games, and ended up having a good ride home. I was a trooper I have to say because I rode in the backseat ALL DAY in those curves! All in all the one trip after dinner was 1200 turns! I had a slight headache by the end of the night...
